My client is looking for an experienced, organised and proactive Compliance, Quality & Sustainability Manager to take ownership of our compliance, quality and sustainability frameworks and help maintain the high standards expected of a progressive modern print business.
Purpose of a Compliance Manager:
You will manage and continually improve the company's quality, environmental, social responsibility and compliance systems, ensuring requirements are understood, embedded, monitored and continually improved.
Key accreditations and programmes include ISO 9001, ISO 14001, SMETA, B Corp and Positive Luxury.
The role combines strategic responsibility with hands-on administration and coordination, working closely with Production, Operations, HR, Procurement and Management. You will also oversee NCR management and trend analysis, Quality Control administration, monthly Fire Marshall meetings and the Windles Apprenticeship Programme, currently supporting three apprentices.
Key Responsibilities of a Compliance Manager:
- Manage and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001, SMETA, B Corp and Positive Luxury requirements.
- Maintain compliance calendars, registers, policies, procedures and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, act as the main point of contact for auditors and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Monitor changes to relevant legislation, standards and accreditation requirements.
- Manage the NCR process, including investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions and trend reporting.
- Coordinate Quality Control administration, documentation and quality checks.
- Monitor quality data and identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain environmental records and support sustainability reporting, B Corp, Positive Luxury and customer sustainability requirements.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve resource efficiency and minimise environmental impact.
- Organise and run monthly Fire Marshall meetings, maintaining actions and follow-ups.
- Coordinate the Apprenticeship Programme, supporting apprentices, managers and training providers and monitoring progress.
- Use audit findings, NCR data and management-system performance to drive continuous improvement and provide clear reporting to management.
What we are looking for in a Compliance Manager:
We are looking for someone who combines strong organisational and compliance skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
You will ideally have experience in a quality, compliance, environmental or management-systems role within manufacturing, production, printing, packaging or a similarly regulated environment.
You will be:
- Highly organised, methodical and able to manage multiple workstreams.
- Experienced in audits, corrective actions and non-conformances.
- Confident analysing data and identifying trends.
- Detail-oriented with excellent administrative skills.
- A clear and effective communicator who can work at all levels.
- Practical, solutions-focused and comfortable working independently.
- Passionate about quality, environmental performance and responsible business.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential: Experience in a quality, compliance, environmental or management-systems role; experience with audits, corrective actions and non-conformances; strong organisational and IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Excel; and an understanding of continuous improvement.
Desirable: Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, SMETA, B Corp, Positive Luxury, internal auditing, NCR/root-cause analysis, environmental management, manufacturing/print quality systems, apprenticeship administration or workplace/fire-safety coordination.
Formal auditor or management-system qualifications would be advantageous.
