Position: Digicon Operator
Location: Croydon
Salary: £29,000 - £32,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Working Hours / Shift Pattern:
This role operates on a two-shift rotation from Monday to Friday:
- Morning Shift: 05:50 - 13:25
- Afternoon Shift: 13:25 - 21:00
On Fridays, shorter shifts apply:
- Morning Shift: 06:00 - 12:00
- Afternoon Shift: 12:00 - 18:00
Day to day duties of a Digicon Operator:
As a Digicon Finishing Operator, you will operate and maintain Digicon label finishing machine to convert digitally printed label rolls into finished product. The role involves setting up finishing processes such as varnishing, die-cutting and slitting while supporting high-quality output and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities of a Digicon Operator:
- Set up and operate Digicon finishing machine.
- Prepare printed label rolls for finishing.
- Install and align rotary dies and varnish units.
- Adjust machine settings for correct registration, tension, and cutting accuracy.
- Monitor production to ensure quality and consistency.
- Inspect finished labels for defects such as misalignment, poor cuts, or coating issues.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning.
- Troubleshoot finishing problems during production runs.
- Maintain production documentation and job records.
- Follow health & safety procedures within the production environment.
Skills and Experience
- Experience operating label finishing or converting equipment.
- Knowledge of die-cutting, laminating, foiling, varnishing, and slitting processes.
- Ability to read job specifications and production sheets.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work efficiently under production deadlines.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
