Position: Group Stock Controller
Wellingborough, Northamptonshire | Full-Time | Monday-Friday, 8.30am-5.30pm | Site Based
About the business:
We're working with an established and growing manufacturing business that is looking to appoint a Group Stock Controller to take ownership of stock accuracy and inventory control across its three closely located manufacturing sites in the Wellingborough area.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Stock Controller, Inventory Controller or Warehouse professional who is looking for a role with greater responsibility, visibility and ownership.
You'll play a key role in ensuring stock is accurately controlled across the group, working closely with production, purchasing, planning and warehouse teams to ensure the right materials are available at the right time to support operational requirements.
With responsibility spanning three businesses, this is a varied role that will suit someone who is highly organised, analytical and confident working independently, while also building strong relationships across multiple teams and locations.
Purpose of a Group Stock Controller:
This is a key role within the wider group, with responsibility for maintaining accurate stock levels, identifying discrepancies and improving stock control processes across all three sites.
You'll work with a broad range of materials and finished goods, including board, paper, corrugated materials, cores, consumables, Co-Pack stock and finished stock.
The role also provides an opportunity to contribute to the standardisation of stock control processes and best practice across the group, giving you the chance to make a genuine impact rather than simply maintaining stock records.
You'll use the company's bespoke MIS system to manage stock information, produce reports and monitor key stock data. Full training on the internal systems and processes will be provided.
Key Responsibilities of a Group Stock Controller:
- Take full ownership of stock control and stock accuracy across three manufacturing sites.
- Ensure consistent stock-control processes and reliable inventory data across each location.
- Manage stock movements in and out of the business, including Co-Pack stock.
- Control and monitor board, paper, corrugated materials, cores, consumables and finished stock.
- Complete regular and end-of-month stock counts across all three businesses.
- Consolidate stock information to provide an accurate overall group stock position.
- Monitor stock levels and proactively identify potential shortages or excess inventory.
- Coordinate stock transfers between sites where required.
- Investigate stock discrepancies, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records within the MIS system.
- Produce regular stock reports and KPIs for site and senior management.
- Work closely with production, purchasing, planning and warehouse teams to ensure stock availability supports production requirements.
- Help develop and standardise stock-control processes and best practice across the group.
- Identify opportunities to improve stock accuracy, efficiency and control.
Requirements for a Group Stock Controller:
We're looking for someone with proven experience in stock control, inventory management or warehouse operations, ideally gained within a manufacturing, print, packaging or similar environment.
You'll be someone who takes ownership, enjoys working with data and has the confidence to investigate issues rather than simply identify them.
You'll bring:
- Previous experience in a stock control, inventory or warehouse position.
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine focus on accuracy.
- Good numeracy and analytical skills.
- Experience using MIS, ERP or stock management systems.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
- The confidence to communicate effectively with production, purchasing, planning and warehouse teams.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team.
- A conscientious and reliable approach to your work.
- Previous multi-site or multi-business experience would be advantageous.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is an opportunity to take on a genuine group-level stock control position, with responsibility across three manufacturing operations.
You'll have the opportunity to influence how stock is controlled across the group, improve processes, work with multiple departments and develop your experience within a busy manufacturing environment.
You'll be joining a friendly, hardworking and knowledgeable team, with plenty of experience to share and a strong focus on teamwork and supporting one another.
For someone looking to develop their career within stock control, inventory management or manufacturing operations, this role offers excellent scope to broaden your experience and take ownership of a key business function.
